Training Description

Impact of Trauma on Students and Staff (1 hour)

About the Training: Educators, whose focus is on teaching, are frequently and unexpectedly faced with students whose lives have been exposed to trauma and loss. The impact this can have on the student, the teacher, or the classroom can vary tremendously. Educators are not always prepared for this, and most do not have specific training in this area.

This course focuses on helping educators understand the impact which trauma and loss can have on people: their students, themselves or others. Knowing the very different yet normal responses to trauma can help educators feel better equipped to manage these responses. It will allow them to maintain the focus on their primary responsibility (teaching), while addressing the very personal needs of those impacted by the trauma.
