This course combines one section of online training as well as one day of on-site training. Attendees will complete the online section of the course before attending the onsite section.
Who Should Attend: This course is designed for licensed clinicians who desire to incorporate crisis intervention services in the workplace. Successfully completing this course will enable clinicians to meet Crisis Care Network<s one day on-site training criteria for qualification as a CCN Specialist (See www.crisiscare.com). Clinicians must also hold an advanced degree in the social services and be licensed.
Online Course: This course is designed to provide attendees with a video enhanced overview of how the evidence-informed Psychological First Aid approach may be applied to the workplace and addresses the unique aspects of the provider<s role with the employer client. The course will include:
Onsite Course: The onsite section builds on the best practices literature reviewed in the online section, and provides a comprehensive overview of how to deliver critical incident response services in the workplace. It will cover trends in the nature and frequency of critical incidents in the workplace; how to incorporate psychological first aid principles to organizations, individuals, and workgroups; how to organize responses to incidents in the workplace; exercising cultural competency in the context of response to mass disasters; and how to promote resiliency and self care. This course will include:
Online Section: Attendees may log in and out of the online course and complete at their own pace. Each chapter is followed by review questions to assist the attendee in learning the material. The course concludes with a 10 item test. The attendee must successfully pass the test in order to qualify for a course completion certificate and CEU’s. The attendee may retake the test as needed. Attendees will need a working email address in order to take the online portion. You must have high speed internet access to complete the online course.
Trainer for the Onsite Section: Rod Ogilvie LCPC, CRADC, is the Director of Crisis Management Services & Training for Associates in Professional Counseling & Coaching. Rod was a member of the instructor team with the Illinois Campus Security Task Force team presenting regional training seminars to colleges and universities in 2007. He has completed Advanced Training in Critical Incident Stress Management through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and is an approved instructor for their Group, Individual and Pastoral Crisis Intervention courses. Rod also is a trainer and provider for Crisis Care Network, the world’s largest provider of crisis intervention services to the workplace. He has been involved in numerous critical incident situations involving suicide, accidental deaths, abuse, robberies and other situations where CISM strategies were implemented. He also has provided crisis intervention services connected with 9/11 and hurricane Katrina. Rod has been utilized as a trainer for large corporations, schools, colleges and universities, clergy, chaplains, emergency personnel, and hospitals. He has overseen the training of hundreds of social workers, counselors and other professionals as director of APC’s training division. Rod is an active member in the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management team, providing services to first responder groups
Continuing Education Credits: The Best Practices in Critical Incident Response for the Workplace will award a total of 10 CEU<s for LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW for completion of the online and onsite sections.
Confirmations: Upon receipt of the registration form, we will mail or email a confirmation letter within one week. This will confirm the training selected, date, and directions to the training.
Locations: The Orland Park training will be held at Robert Morris College: 82 Orland Square Drive, Orland Park, IL (enter through the front entrance). Parking is available free of charge. The Warrenville training will be held at Linden Oaks Training Center: 27555 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL (enter through door “G”). Parking is available free of charge.
Times: The times of trainings are the same for both locations and all dates: The trainings will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. The course will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Lunch will be on your own.
Registration Deadlines: Registrations should be received one week prior to the training date. Registrations received less than one week prior to the training date will not receive a written confirmation. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
Refund Policy: Registrations cancelled at least one week prior to the training date will be refunded at their cost minus a $25 administrative fee. Registration fees can be applied to future training dates based on availability. There are no refunds within one week of the training. Cost includes CEU’s, morning and afternoon refreshments, handouts and other training materials. Lunch is on your own.
