Individual Crisis Intervention: Crisis intervention is NOT psychotherapy. Rather, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training. As physical first-aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called "emotional first-aid.".
